USEPA has developed a Vapor Intrusion Screening Level Calculator

The Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation (OSRTI) has developed VISL Calculator Version 1.0 a spreadsheet tool (the Vapor Intrusion Screening Level (VISL) Calculator (XLSX) (436K) and VISL Users Guide (PDF) . It lists chemicals considered to be volatile and sufficiently toxic through the inhalation pathway, and provides VISLs for groundwater, soil gas and indoor air. These screening levels are generally recommended media-specific risk-based screening-level concentrations. The VISL calculator’s intended use is to assist Superfund site managers and risk assessors in determining whether chemicals found in groundwater or soil gas can pose a significant risk through vapor intrusion and, if so, whether a site-specific vapor intrusion investigation is warranted. This could be a very useful tool for other environmental professionals. Other Agency cleanup programs may also find it helpful to consider the VISLs for their own specific needs.

Cost Savings of a Dedicated Lab

The true cost advantages in using a dedicated laboratory for your onsite analytical needs are found in...

    • Reduced down time
    • Eliminating re-mobilizations
    • Necessary project costs with drilling equipment
    • Yellow iron
    • Engineering fees
    • Geologist's time

Decreased project time increases client goodwill.

Real-time data saves money far beyond lab costs(See Case Studies)

Efficient Utilization of Our Dedicated Mobile Labs

New Age Landmark chemists and laboratories typically mob to job sites the day prior to the project start date at NO EXTRA charge.  This enables the chemist(s) to power up the laboratories and instrumentation to achieve the equilibration and stability necessary to provide quality data.

When the project analytical methodologies require sample digestions or extractions prior to sample analysis, samples should be given to the NAL staff upon arrival to begin sample preparation.  This insures that once the equipment is equilibrated the samples may be placed into analytical batches for analysis.

It is critical that the field staff keep our chemists busy!  To insure the quick turn on data the field staff should get the samples as quickly as possible to our chemists for analysis and sample preparation.  It is not the best use of a mobile lab for the field staff to hold samples until they have a complete batch!

One of the benefits of using our dedicated mobile labs is that you, our client, can determine the daily schedule of our chemists to best utilize their time on site.  Depending upon your project's sampling scope it may be more efficient to have the chemist come to the site later in the morning and stay later into the evening.  Remember - you have a laboratory and chemist dedicated to your project and you can determine how best to use those resources!  If weather concerns or any other situations occur that delay sampling, with 24 hour notice, NAL will authorize a stand-by day and the chemist's hours will not be charged.

The most effective way of utilizing our dedicated mobile laboratories is to make sure that in your pre-project planning thorough information regarding project objectives and remediation goals have been made available to us.  We want to assist you in achieving those objectives!  Good communication both prior to, and during the project are key to project success!

Dedicated Laboratories and Dedicated Chemists Insure Project Success!

Having a dedicated laboratory and a dedicated analytical chemist available for your individual project's analytical needs insures project success.

New Age Landmark's Dedicated Laboratories and Chemists Provide Value Added Services!

New Age Landmark offers analytical consulting to our clients.  This value added service is offered at no additional cost once our laboratory services have been contracted.

New Age Landmark becomes an integral stakeholder in your project and with early involvement in project planning, can insure that the analytical solutions produced onsite meet project goals and objectives while maintaining the highest level of analytical integrity.

The staff at New Age Landmark provide project specific analytical solutions by evaluating methodology and developing methods to best serve your project needs.  Additionally, the staff is qualified to provide expert testimony and litigation support.  Data validation services are also available.

    New Age Receives NELAC Accreditation
New Age/Landmark continues to lead the mobile laboratory industry by setting the standard of excellence. Recently New Age received its NELAC (National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Committee) certification through the state of Florida. New Age is proud to offer this standard of excellence to our clients. On-site Capabilities for Trace Metals

Already recognized for its on-site capabilities to analyze environmental samples and fish tissue for trace metals, New Age has improved its trace metals mobile laboratory with the addition of the HP4500 Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP/MS) instrument.  The ICP/MS allows for the analysis of multiple trace metals at lower reporting limits for soil and groundwater.  Couple the HP4500 Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP/MS) instrument with our Direct Mercury Analyzer (DMA-80) and New Age’s capabilities for the on-site testing of RCRA continues to out pace the competition and exceeds our client’s expectations!
